If you have decided to have a painting contractor come out and paint the outside of your house, there are a few things that you can do to make sure that everything is ready for them so that they don't have to do a lot of work before they get to the actual work.
Mow Your Grass
You may not think that mowing your grass is a good way to prep for a painter, but there are a few good reasons that it is. One is that you don't want to mow your grass and have stray grass bits flying around and hitting your freshly painted walls. If you mow your grass a couple of days before, you won't have to worry about that. Another reason is that shorter grass will mean that the painter will be able to see a place to set their ladder easier.
Create a Plan for Your Pets
If you have dogs that will need to go outside during the day, you will want to make sure that both they and the painters are going to be able to do their things without bothering each other. It doesn't matter if your dogs are friendly or not, everyone is going to be happier if you can come up with a different plan for them. If you can't stay home with them, you may want to consider having someone come and stay with your dogs during the day. That way they can be taken outside on a leash, which will keep them safe while they are doing their business. It will also let the painters do their jobs without having to worry about your dogs knocking them over or knocking over their ladders. While you are at it, make sure that you clean up any little doggie bombs that may have been left around the yard.
You will want to take off all the numbers on your house, as well as things like your mailbox or shutters. They have to come off anyway and if you take them off before the painters come in, it's one less thing that they have to do to get ready to paint your house.
If you want your house to look new, you may decide that you want it painted. Hiring painters to come in and do the work for you will make sure that it's done right and looks good.
